The brasserie is located in the former hotel of England at 50 of the street Henri Poincaré in Nancy, which has resisted to the wars and urban developments that took place in the past century. The building has been listed as a Historical Monument since 1976 thanks to Nancy’s passionate Art Nouveau lovers.

Built in 1911 according to Art Nouveau style, it is perfectly combining industry and art. The Artistic movement from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, combines the aesthetics of curved lines.
The Excelsior was immediately adopted by Nancy’s inhabitants who made it the place for meeting and sharing. It quickly became a place of anecdotes or laughter, cards parties or appointments, working lunches or intimate dinners, breaks and reunion. Within its walls were blown the first airs coming from New Orleans which will give birth to the famous Festival of Jazz of Nancy.
